Bible Roots
Privacy policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
Bible Roots is made by BrownDev LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects and how it is used.
What we collect
- Account information. If you sign in, we receive the email address and name made available by Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or the email address you register with. If you use Apple's Hide My Email feature, this may be an Apple private relay address. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase.
- Reading progress. Chapters you mark read, tree growth, reading plans, bookmarks, your display name, and group challenge membership are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) so your progress can be restored when you sign in on another device.
- App platform. If you sign in, we store whether you most recently used Bible Roots on Android or iOS with your account in Google Firebase. We use this information to understand platform usage and support the app.
- Purchases. Optional tips are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't collect your precise location, contacts, or photos.
Using the app without an account
You can use Bible Roots without signing in. In that case your reading progress is stored only on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Group challenges
If you join a group challenge, other members of that challenge can see your display name and your progress within that challenge (for example, chapters completed). Leaving a challenge removes you from its member list.
Data deletion
You can permanently delete your account from either the iOS or Android app by opening Settings → Manage account → Delete account and following the confirmation steps. Signing out is not the same as deleting your account.
Deleting your account removes:
- Your Bible Roots authentication account, including the email address, display name, and linked sign-in methods associated with it.
- Your synced reading history, tree progress, reading-plan status, bookmarks, reflections, and other synced preferences.
- The most recently used app platform (Android or iOS) stored with your account.
- Your membership, name, and individual progress from group challenges.
- Your synced Bible Roots data from the device where you complete deletion.
Deleting Bible Roots does not delete your separate Apple or Google account. Purchase records kept by Apple or Google remain subject to those companies' policies.
Challenges you created. A challenge you created remains available to its other members after your account is deleted. Your membership and personal progress are removed, and the challenge owner is shown as DeletedUser so members understand that the creator deleted their account.
Children
Bible Roots is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described above.
